Honoring Past Donations
Thanking Those Who Have Made Our Research Possible
At the Brain Injury Research Institute, we are proud of the fact that our doctors, Julian Bailes, M.D. Jennifer Hammers, M.D. and Bennet I. Omalu, M.D., have made considerable contributions to the understanding and awareness of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). None of our work, however, would have been possible without the generous donations made by individuals who had suffered multiple concussions and traumatic brain injuries, as well as the surviving family members of such people. We currently have a brain and tissue bank which houses 20 brains for the purposes of future research, in addition to soliciting future donations. In the past, we have been able to diagnose CTE in the brains of former NFL players Mike Webster, Justin Strzelczyk, Terry Long, and Andre Waters, as well as WWE wrestler Chris Benoit, among others.
